Credit Card Hotspots Around The UK

Credit Card Hotspots Around The UK

The People newspaper has released details of an interesting look into credit card fraud and attempted to highlight the hotspots in the UK. As you might have expected London (to be more precise South East London) comes out as the worst area for credit card crime in the UK. Those who have visited London will be aware that this is a City which never sleeps, which has a massive population and one which can be fraught with danger for those not aware of what is happening around them.

Others in the hotspot top league include two other areas of London, Manchester (5th) with Coventry (7th) and Nottingham (9th) also showing up as areas where credit card fraud is substantial. The report also found that Wales and Northern Ireland were two of the safer areas in the UK, although why is not quite clear.

The research for the survey was carried out by The 3rd Man, fraud prevention experts, and saw them trawl through 30 million transactions across the UK. It was also interesting to see that previous credit card hotspots such as Liverpool and Kilmarnock are now well down the list thanks to a crack down by police in the area. There are now calls for a national team to move into credit card hotspots and flush out the fraudsters.
